Overview of volunteer departments

Registration
Our registration volunteers are the first people attendees meet! When working registration shifts you will be checking people in as they arrive, handing out swag bags, and answering questions. This position is well suited for someone who likes interacting with people!

Panel Setup
This shift assignment can mean many different things depending on the panel you are helping with. You will arrive 30 minutes before a panel begins and help the panelists get ready. May include some heavy lifting, a/v testing, and go-fer errands.

Panel Line Management
As our panelists are setting up, we need volunteers to help organize the line of attendees waiting to enter the panel room. You will assist any attendees that need accessible seating, manage VIP priority seating, and help keep the line out of the way of other events. Volunteers working line management should be able to stand for extended periods of time, and especially for our biggest programming, be comfortable with crowds.

Guest Line Management
Similar to Panel Line Management, a volunteer will help organize the line of attendees waiting to meet, take pictures, and get autographs with our guests. You will also help take pictures and keep the line moving. Volunteers working line management must be able to stand for extended periods of time.

Quiet Room / Game & Crafts Room / Vendor Room
When staff is available, we like to have volunteers overseeing these spaces. Your job here is to hang out and supervise attendees and the room.

Audio/Visual Staff
A/V volunteers handle the technical side of panels! Your job as as an Audio/Visual volunteer includes setup of lighting and sound equipment, operation during panels, and tear down as needed. Occasionally, the stage setup will need to be reconfigured between panels as well. Experience in recording/mixing, theatre, or lighting design/operation is encouraged.
